And so this heart groans too. I can taste the beginnings of the kingdom, this smallest of seeds slowly growing, yeast doing it’s gradual work. But it’s that gradual part that leaves me aching. How slowly must this journey home be?
“Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay.” (hebrews 10:37)
And with that my soul takes heart. This world is not simply a series of dizzying repetition and decay. We are on a trajectory to glory, when cycles will be done away with. We will be fully alive. Come soon, Lord Jesus.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.” (romans 8:18-21)
Short and beautifully reassuring to my soul. I too feel a deep longing for his Kingdom to come - what a glorious day it will be!
