make me a great street sweeper.

"If you are called to be a street sweeper, sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well."

-Martin Luther King Jr.

I pray that God would replace my desire to always be busy doing big things for God, with big people, in big places, and replace it with a desire to see Jesus magnified through my tasks, big or little.

I pray that the Lord would find fit to make me a faithful servant in the little, dreary, daily tasks like street sweeping or, in my case, dish washing, or floor-scrubbing.

I pray that one day I will be able to hear all of heaven say:

“Here lived a great sister. dish cleaner. diaper-changer. floor-scrubber. house cleaner. washerwoman.”

  2. That's certainly the hardest: finding joy and being diligent in the small things. That is, hardest for moi!
