My Battlefield...

As I gaze beyond my backyard fence,
I see the evidence of war.
Out in the world brave heroes of the faith,
Fight as the Lord's ambassadors.

Why am I here in the comfort of my home,
When there's battles to fight; wars to win?
Hunger, Disease, Poverty, and Death,
Are calling me to be their heroine.

In His word, the Lord calls us to battle,
To defend and give hope to the lost,
Then why am I doing the home's dreary tasks,
While the lonely pay pain and death's cost?

The same Voice that calls to battle,
Now gently whispers my name,
And reminds me that my battlefield is here,
In what appears to be the tame.

So I'll do these tasks for my Lord,
And I'll fight these battles with prayer.
The battle for cheerfulness, excellence, and humility,
The battle of "I-would-prefer".

This fence has turned into a rampart,
And the foe is scaling my destiny,
So instead of dreaming of the combat beyond,
I'll fight in the battle He's chosen for me.
